IN PURSUIT OF KNOWLEDGE
I am a life-long learner with the drive to know more, be more, and do more in the biomedical research field. With a passion for helping others through the advancement of medicine, I chose to enter into the biomedical research field for the opportunity to help others and be a part of the calling to improve human health. I am on a mission for good.
RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
BOISE STATE UNIVERSITY
RESEARCH ASSISTANT
June 2022 - June 2023
As a Research Assistant at the Boise State University Biomolecular Research Center (BRC), I had the opportunity to work under Dr. Jonathon Reek on his research to develop novel ways of detecting and treating cartilage damage. In addition to my time specifically with Dr. Reek, I assisted graduate students with their personal research, helped other professors/scientists at the BRC with various tasks, and served as a liaison between the BRC and local companies using our facilities to conduct their research.
While in my position at the BRC, I wore many hats, but my primary job was to be the lab's expert on 3D bioprinting and numerous different techniques used In the field of biofabrication. I worked directly with Cell Ink to be fully trained on their BioNovaX and BioX printers, as well as establishing weekly meetings with their equipment specialists to discuss advancements and experimental models.
BURST BIOLOGICS INC
RESEARCH TECHNICIAN
June 2021 - April 2022
As a Research Technician at Burst Biologics, I had the opportunity to work under three senior scientists, Drs. Mukta Sane, Shivani Maffi and Nilufar Ali. Our mission at Burst was to develop new products in regenerative medicine. My primary role was to manage the majority of laboratory bench work, assist with data analysis, and give weekly literature review presentations.
While my time at Burst was cut short due to the closure of the company, my interest in neurobiology and stem cell regenerative medicine was sparked, prompting a pursual of a Ph.D. in neuroscience and regenerative medicine. Even though we were cut off in the thick of our research, our publication was completed nonetheless and is currently in review but will be viewable here.
NORTHWEST NAZARENE UNIVERSITY
STUDENT RESEARCH ASSISTANT
June 2020 - May 2021
While less related to my experience in biomedical research, I had the opportunity as an undergraduate student to work under Dr. Jon Cossell in his herpetology research, specifically identifying an undescribed species of frog that had been illegally smuggled into Hong Kong.
